Silence Your Inner Critic

Unleash Your Full Self

Find Your Creative Tribe

You're exhausted from editing yourself.

Whether you're softening your opinions in daily life or holding back on stage, you know you're playing it safe.

That creative spark you used to have is buried under years of following the rules, doing as you’re told, and staying quiet when you really want to speak up.

You know there's more range in you, you just don't know how to reach it.

We Get It, Because We’ve Been There!

This is exactly why Joya Cory created Full Spectrum Improvisation—not as comedy improv, but as a way to help people blossom into who they really are through the practice of improv and physical theater.

Whether you want to sharpen your skills as a performer or simply become more yourself, FSI will help you:

Work through emotions that have been buried

Release what's been stuck

Express parts of yourself you didn't know were waiting

Through movement, voice, and play, you'll access creative impulses the everyday world doesn't make room for.

Who We Are

Left to right: Marcia Aguilar, Joya Cory, Sidonie Starr

Sidonie Starr (Series 1: April 7-May 12)
Sidonie has been getting delightfully weird with masks, puppets, and FSI since 2015. She teaches narrative improv at Leela because she believes stories need bodies, not just voices.

Marcia Aguilar (Series 2: May 19-Jun 23)
Marcia is a Drama Therapist with 16 years of FSI training who knows exactly where you're hiding and will lovingly coax you out. In the best way, we promise.

Both trained directly with FSI creator Joya Cory, and both are committed to creating a space where you feel safe, have fun, and can bring all of it—even the parts you usually keep hidden. They believe your "too much" is actually "just right."

Like any meaningful practice, the more you commit to FSI, the more it gives back. The 2nd series above builds on the first as students deepen their practice over time.

What to Expect

Over 6 weeks, we’ll dive into techniques drawn from multiple methods and modalities—all designed to expand your range as a human and as a performer.

We’ll explore:

  • Expressive movement that breaks through physical self-consciousness

  • Voice work that releases years of "indoor voice" conditioning

  • Storytelling that reveals material you didn't know you had

  • Ensemble play that deepens actual human connection

  • Techniques for creating physical improvisational theatre

We’ll start by shaking off the rust and reminding you that your body exists. By the end, you'll be creating improvisational theatre that's authentic, alive and surprises you.

No experience required. Just bring curiosity and a willingness to be gloriously imperfect!

“Marcia gently and supportively helps me express myself, while encouraging me to take risks. In her classes, I have found greater freedom to show the parts of myself that normally lay hidden for fear of judgment.  Her attention to the needs of BIPOC individuals, from cost to cultural issues, is earnest and unique.” -Linda

What Life Can Be Like

Imagine walking into any room—a meeting, party, audition, or awkward family dinner—and being fully present. You're not apologizing or making yourself smaller.

Your instincts are trustworthy. Your voice is fully yours. Your creativity is unleashed. Your inner critic is still there, but you’ve learned to put it in the back seat where it belongs.

This is your life on Full Spectrum:

  • Raw Authenticity - No more exhausting performances of "appropriate"

  • Creative Confidence - You know your range and you use all of it

  • Intuitive Trust - Your gut becomes your guide

  • Genuine Community - People who get your brand of weird

Plus, you'll finally have an answer when someone asks, "So what do you do for fun?" that doesn't involve doomscrolling or lying about how much you love hiking. 😉

I've been studying FSI with Marcia and Sid for three years, and it's profoundly expanded my creativity in ways I never imagined. They each create an environment that feels genuinely safe and supportive while pushing you to take risks. You learn to get comfortable being uncomfortable—to stay present with whatever arises and trust the unknown. I'm now more creative, more emotionally attuned, and better able to navigate uncertainty with curiosity instead of fear." - Shannon
